Design Review Checklist
Concept and brief
Can the main idea be explained in one sentence? Does it respond to the site and user needs? Is the programme complete and are assumptions stated?
Planning and experience
Do the plan and section tell the same story? Are arrival, movement and transitions clear? Have privacy, daylight, landscape and support spaces been considered?
Coordination and making
Is the structural logic understandable? Are service zones and access needs acknowledged? Can important material junctions be explained? Which decisions require specialist input?
Communication
Are drawings consistently labelled and scaled? Do images support the design argument? Are precedents and professional credits acknowledged? Can a reviewer distinguish confirmed information from proposals?
Close the review
Record three strengths, three priorities for revision and the next decision to make. Assign actions and revisit them at the next review. A useful critique should produce a clear next step.
